Since a few days I got a lot of spam comments every day. Hey is there a spam championship going on or what is the problem? I love good comments and I really don´t care giving people some back links. My even put my Top Commentators widget on a very cool place so everybody can see them and everyone has a chance to get a free back link there every month. So don´t write spam comments I delete them anyway. If you want to participate from the traffic I got on this blog there are much better ways. 1. Write a good comment 2. Buy an ad spot (it´s still pretty cheap) 3. Contact me and ask for a review 4. Write a good post as a guest blogger but please don´t write spam comments. It is just a waste of my and your time. To all of my readers and good comment writers out there, keep on commenting my posts. I love good comments and I try to visit our sites as much as I can.

1I also experience that matter. Everyday, I always delete by manual. Now, I’ve been using Akismet plugins. And It’s potent till nowadays

“Well we’ve got spam, spam, eggs and spam. Spam, spam, spam, bacon and eggs. Spam, spam, spam, eggs, spam spam, bacon and spam.”

3Spammers are just being lazy. They are unwilling to take the time to build their sites in the more progressive way which is to work at it.
What I hate is to get a nice comment from someone and at end of it they add a spammy link. What a big waste of time for them, I just delete that type right away.

4I have comment moderation on my blog. Its not to deter comments but to encourage one to think a little harder about what they are leaving behind. Most blogs will allow you to leave a link behind as well as you comment, so you should be concentrating on leaving a relevant comment behind; at least that is my opinion.
I have to agree with goofblogger on nice comments with a spammy link at the end of it; truly a comment that deserves to be deleted. I guess some people think that the spot for “URL” is just there for show and not actually to be discrete about leaving a link behind.

7There must be some new software out or something because the last 3-4 days have been just horrible for SPAM. So far I have been too lazy to figure out Askimet but I may just look into it.
As for right now, all of my comments go through moderation. I check frequently throughout the day and approve legit comments ASAP. Spam gets deleted and marked as spam when I get to it.

8I’ve had very few problems with spam. Here is what I do:
- I use akismet.
- In the WP control panel, under settings -> discussion, I say hold for moderation if comment has 2 or more links.
- I use bad behaviour (it currently blocks about 200 spam comments per day!)

9I usually get a ton of spam on my blogs, I just use akismet and make sure to check them once or twice a week, sometimes good comments get in there too. Wordpress has a ton of plugin’s to help with spam.
