Today I have to learn another lesson about banks and how they can afford such big buildings. I came home yesterday after a long and very hard working day and was surprised to have a letter from the U.S. in my mailbox. For everyone don´t know it by now I am living in Germany. I opened the letter and it was a check for Bluehost and their affiliate program. I was really happy about earning some cash from my blogging activities and went to bed with a good feeling. Today I went to the bank and showed them my check of $130. They told me it cost $25 to put the money of my check on my bank account just because it came from the U.S. Hey that´s 19% of the amount. That´s not too bad for doing really nothing! I my next life I am going to found my own bank. The only way out of this bad feeling of losing that much money is, to earn so much money you didn´t care about this anymore. I my opinion banks are bloodsuckers.

1Not really agreed. If I earn $1000 they will charge $190. I don’t think I’ll feel good for loosing $190.

2Hei congratz. That’s nice earnings from hosting affiliate. Here in Indonesia all banks also cut 20% of the check amount if the check is from USA

3So true. Banks are bloodsuckers. No matter what it is they want to make money just as everyone else does. That is why it cost me $55 for a check that was .02 overdrawn. Wow.
Great Post

7It happens the same here when we get payments by check in Pakistan. No matter how we get the money, through a payment gateway online, we accept credit cards from our website Getting the money here in Pakistan, it costs us around 10% to 15% of the money. However since our Government is not charging any income tax on it, we have a bit of the support.
When we do it on the large scale, we will open bank accounts in global business centers such as in Middle East Dubai, or USA, and collect our money their and then distribute it to other countries through direct bank transfers (which costs less %).
Until then we have to depend on local banks.

10I don’t know for sure, but I would guess that there are local branches of US banks there in Germany. If you live in a big city, there may be one near you. If you don’t, the next time you are in a big city, you could think about opening an account with Chase, or JP Morgan, or Bank of America, there in Germany.
Then when you got back home, you could deposit those checks drawn off of US banks in your own US based account, by depositing the check by mail.
Just a though.
Peace

11Wow, $150 for being an affiliate? It is really a lot of money but you’re right, the bank is a blodsucker. They get something for doing nothing. Let us join force and make our own bank. That way our money won’t go anywhere
