Hoto as Blogging, Business, John Chow, Making Money, Making Money Online, Money
Some blogger are blogging for fun. Some are blogging for money. And one guy is blogging to earn the big cash. Ok not just one guy making all the money, but John Chow is doing pretty well at making money online I think. Last month he made $40,125.99. Wow!!! He started blogging in September 2006 and made $350 in his first month. Today nearly 2 years later he has reached a new record making over $40,000.00 in a single month. I think everyone who wants to make some cash online should at least know who John Chow is and how he is making a very good income out of his blog. Of course there are a lot of other great money makers in this business, but they don´t tell us how much they are making per month, maybe for IRS reasons. Taking a closer look to his income you can see he is making over 50% out of Private Ad Sales and Affiliate Commissions. If you don´t count this one time Pay It Forward Post $10,000.00 it´s even more than 75%. So you blogger out there, how do you make money? And most important how much do you make your way?

1I’ve been blogging exactly one month now and use google adsense and have made a whopping $18.82…not what I was expecting at all!!! It just doesn’t seem worth the time. In fact, it sucks! Big TIME!!! I’d like to know of any hard rock way to actually make money blogging…

2I dont think the guy above would like to know that his numbers represent about 2/3rds of the entire blogger nation. Only the top 2% make John Chow money. Great blog though, I subscribed and would love it if u did the same for me.

3I think blogging is like every other business. You are right, only about 2% make big time cash with blogging, but in the real world out there it´s the same. 5% of your population have 90% of the money. it´s always the same. the good thing about it, who is holding you back to become one of the 5% ? as long as you have this goal and you can believe in it, you may make the goal come true. so go for your goals !!! and don´t forget keep coming back at ThaCash.com.

4Hoto, it seems you and I are very much of the same mindset. I have many friends who tell me they would like more money, but they do nothing proactive to attain it. The thing that holds a lot of people back, is they expect the make thousands of dollars by putting in a handful of hours of work into something, and I feel that’s unrealistic regardless of what the business is.
As you pointed out in your article John Chow makes over 50% of that money from affiliate sales. Not low payout programs like Adsense. Affiliate programs require people to sell unlike Adsense that lets you sit back and requires no work. I feel Mr. Chows numbers are a direct reflection on the concept of selling, or using no effort PPC programs. Thanks for the interesting post.

6He was one of my blogger idol. Now, I prefer Problogger because most of John Chow’s post are paid posts and I can learn a lot from Problogger.

7I’ve realised that the main factor in making money is TIME. Yes John Chow’s blog has only been online for two odd years but he’s been in the internet business for many years before that. Before his blog appeared he had a number of websites pulling in thousands of visitors a week. He simply promoted his new blog on his existing sites to gain lots of people at his blog.

9Which ads provider will bring the best income to us as a blogger?

10In response to PK’s comment, it takes much more than a month to begin making any quality money with these types of websites.
You need to be dedicated, and you need to provide quality content in order for google to index you.
Hope that helps!

11I think Adam have already covered my point. John Chow was not new to internet. Before blogging he had a website named Techzone running for 3 to 4 years, i think. He just had to announce once on Techzone and started to get amazing traffic on his blog. While on the other hand, we new bloggers don’t have a renowned website so we have put some serious effort to get some traffic on our blogs.
